|The work of a helping professional can be tough and, often times, self-sacrificing, especially for the helpers own emotions. |Limiting beliefs can be described as false or negative beliefs an individual has about themselves and the world around them. These beliefs generally develop during childhood and are largely shaped by parents or guardians and the experiences and individual has during the early years of their lives.
|For as long as I can remember, I have loved attempting to dissect the meaning of the words that people speak. It is partly why I chose a career in a helping profession and became a counsellor; to exercise my ability to try to understand how others feel through their words and use the skills of paraphrasing, summarizing or through the use of metaphors to convey this understanding back to my clients.
