|Whether you listen through your car stereo on your way to work, on with noise-canceling headphones on a walk through your neighbourhood, podcasts can be a great source of information on a range of topics, including mental health.
Listening to podcasts that focus on increasing your awareness can be helpful to incorporate into your daily routine as part of self-care or enlightenment strategies. Since there are a lot (and I mean a ton) of podcasts to chose from, I thought I would highlight a few interesting ones I have come across that focus on mindfulness and meditations practices so that you can check them out yourself.

In case you're completely new to the podcast scene and are currently scratching your head wondering what this word even means, a podcast "is a digital audio or video file or recording, usually part of a themed series, that can be downloaded from a website to a media player or computer".
Generally, podcasts are prerecorded and uploaded to sites such as iTunes, Soundcloud, or YouTube, and can even be found on blogs or websites that host these podcasts. A quick Google search shows that there are over three hundred thousand results for the word podcast alone, which shows just how popular this method of sharing information through audio format has become. This article will highlight four podcasts that focus on the theme of mindfulness or meditation with links to free audio files to check out. Enjoy! Note: Many podcasts are hosted for free through iTunes which is also free to download. I will also include, wherever possible, other ways to access the following podcasts including videos.
The Mindful Podcast from Mindful.org is a collection of audio files that explain specific practice examples of practicing mindfulness. Each audio selection is short and allows the listener to learn and cultivate their mindfulness skills at their own pace. Topics include body scans, breathing exercises, bedtime meditations, loving-kindness, and more. Listen here:
The Mindful Kind Podcast is hosted by Rachael Kable who shares her insights into mindfulness and teaches listeners to learn simple and effective practices to incorporate into their own lives. The Mindful Kind is a weekly podcast that shares new ideas, interviews, personal experiences and mindfulness exercises. Also check out Rachael's website for lots of free goodies and resources on mindfulness! Listen here:
The Daily Meditation Podcast is hosted by meditation coach Mary Meckley who shares daily meditations based on a weekly theme. This podcast is great if you are looking to build a daily meditation ritual into your everyday life and includes topics such as managing stress and anger, overcoming self doubt, moving past fear, managing addiction and mental health concerns such as anxiety or depression and helping to improve confidence and self-esteem

The Radically Loved Radio Podcast is hosted by Rosie Acosta who is a Certified Nutritionist, Wellness Consultant, Holistic Health Coach, Yoga Teacher and Yoga Teacher Trainer. Thank you so much for the recommendations! I'm new to this realm...what exactly is mindfulness? I can tell that it's linked to meditation, but I'm not quite sure what it is.

I really need to check these out. I've actually never listened to a podcast, but this is something I truly believe in. Mindfulness helped me get through my toughest days as a social worker... now that I'm taking a break from the field, I still find my mind going a million miles an hour, but I don't take the time to stop and meditate like I used to! I think these will help with my self care. Thanks for sharing.

Our professional field can be really tough if we're not taking care of ourselves while we try to help others. I hope that you're able to incorporate mindfulness or meditation back into your life so you can benefit from these practices again. Take good care of yourself, Emmy!

Thanks for sharing! I am always looking for something new to listen to. It's so easy to get caught up in the outside world that we lose focus on reentering ourselves.
