|As a mom to two adorable fur baby's, I understand how frustrating and exhausting it can be to be woken up during the night or wake up feeling less than refreshed.  When I discovered essential oils earlier this year, I was excited to hear about all of the health and wellness benefits that can come with using them in your daily life, including help with sleep.

I now diffuse essential oils before bedtime and use a rollerball with lavender to help me fall back to sleep in case I'm woken up in the middle of the night by one of my furry companions. My partner also uses essential oils and the Deep Blue rub to help ease his sore muscles and soothe his mind to sleep. Seeing how useful essential oils can be in my own life, I can truly say this stuff really works!

I am always eager to talk to others about their health and wellness concerns and to discuss how essential oils could make a difference in their lives. Essential oils are multifaceted, from helping to relieve stress, to replacing household cleaners with more natural solutions, and even using them in the kitchen in your cooking, there are so many uses to discover.

Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting a fellow blogger who was interested in trying out some essential oils for herself and she writes about her experience using some samples in this article. I hope you enjoy reading about her experience and learn some tips from her as well!
Lavender has been widely used for its calming and relaxing qualities. Taken internally, Lavender reduces anxious feelings and promotes peaceful sleep. Due to Lavender’s versatile properties, it is considered the must-have oil to have on hand at all times. Diffuse at night time for a peaceful sleep

Essential Oils for the Busy Mom Who Got No Sleep

The alarm buzzes and you feel as though you just shut your eyes a few minutes ago. But when you roll over you realize that it’s time to get up and go, go, go. The kids must be dressed, fed, and sent off to school. The house is a mess and… what is that smell?

'Just hit snooze' you tell yourself as you toss and turn, dreading the moment your feet hit the floor. But that’s just now how it works for busy mamas.

Each night I toss and turn trying to force myself to sleep, and it seems like no matter what I try nothing ever helps me drift off any earlier. Unfortunately, I suffer from persistent insomnia.

It is no walk in the park.

So, it was definitely a surprise when I finally found something that helped me, even the slightest bit, to drift off and catch those long sought-after zzz’s.

I was given the opportunity to try out doTerra’s Breathe oil blend and let me tell you, just the scent alone made me want to use it every day. If you’re looking for calming, this blend is it.

doTERRA Breathe maintains feelings of clear airways and easy breathing while minimizing the effects of seasonal threats. This essential oil can be applied topically to the chest, back, or bottom of feet, or diffused at nighttime to calm the senses and promote a restful sleep.

Putting It to the Test

I wanted to be sure that I was really feeling true effects from the oil, not a placebo effect because I so badly wanted it to work. I used doTerra’s Breathe in my diffuser in my bedroom for 2 weeks, each night. The difference I saw in my sleep habits was incredible.

No matter how wound up I felt when I laid down, I was able to quickly relax and drift off to sleep. I’m a firm believer in homeopathic remedies for common problems, especially when it comes to my sleep.

I’ve been on prescription sleep medication before and the zombie-effect I always felt the next day just wasn’t my style. So, when I discovered how well the oil blend worked to help me fall asleep, I did a happy dance. It was incredible how much a couple of drops of the oil in my diffuser could do for my entire life.

Breathe has helped me fall asleep faster and wake up feeling like I slept every single day.

Other Essential Oil Tricks

Because Heather had offered me another sample of doTerra oils, the Wild Orange, I wanted to take advantage of the clean fresh scent of this oil. While I use it regularly in my small diffuser that I have in my workspace, I knew that I wanted to extend the benefits of this one.

Wild Orange has such a refreshing smell and I was able to find a few tricks that allowed me to spread the benefits of it to other areas of my home.

The Bathroom
While I’d love to say that I’m a supermom who cleans the bathroom every day, I’d be lying. So, I’m just going to give you the truth. I clean my bathroom weekly, but it’s always nice to have a freshly cleaned smell each and every day.

And if you’re like me and don’t have the time to do this, pull out your favorite essential oil and give this little trick a shot.

I dropped 2 drops of doTerra Wild Orange on the inside of the toilet paper roll, and now each time someone unrolls some toilet paper my bathroom gets a fresh burst of scent.

Wild Orange enhances any essential oil blend with a fresh, sweet, refreshing aroma. Wild Orange possesses stimulating and purifying qualities, making it ideal to support healthy immune system function. Diffusing Wild Orange will energize and uplift the mind and body while purifying the air.
The Carpets
I vacuum at least every other day. We have two cats and a dog, so getting the fur and stray hairs up is a constant battle. But because I have a bagless vacuum, I’m not able to buy those Febreze bags that make my house smell super good each time I vacuum.
And my filter doesn’t come in those fresh scents either. So, I had to find a trick to get my own fresh scent when I vacuum.

Because it’s a bagless vacuum, it has a filter that I can pull out and clean every so often. (No, I don’t do it as often as I should.)

So, I pulled the filter out, gave it a good cleaning, and dropped four drops of Wild Orange on it before I put it back in the vacuum. Now when I vacuum my home, I get that same fresh clean scent that the special vacuum bags and filters give you.

These are amazing hacks! I so wish we could use some EO in our bedroom - I love the scent of lavender, but my husband is extremely sensitive to smells, so our home is a scent-free zone :(

Some people can be quite sensitive to scents but you could still use essential oils outside the home like in wearable diffusers or in your car. :)
