|The work of a helping professional can be tough and, often times, self-sacrificing, especially for the helpers own emotions. After sharing my occupation as a therapist I have often heard someone exclaim 'I don't know how you do that work.. it must be difficult to listen to so many people and hear their stories of suffering and pain!'.
|Because of the internet and social media influence, there is even more attention and consideration for our mental health nowadays. Allowing yourself time to attend to your mental health is now met with support and appreciation because people are aware, now more than ever, that a good mental health leads to productivity and ultimately a happier outlook in life.
|The smell of pumpkin spiced latte's and delicious fall desserts are wafting through the air this time of the year, and while it can be so tempting to indulge in all of these sugary treats, it can also be important to focus on ways to keep on track with your health and wellness.
|Life can bring experiences of instances of joy and triumph but also sorrow and heartache. At times it can be tough to feel positive vibes, especially while going through a tough time. Therefore, it can be important to focus your efforts on curating a positive mindset so that you can not only feel better overall but also continue working towards your hopes and dreams in life.
|Limiting beliefs can be described as false or negative beliefs an individual has about themselves and the world around them. These beliefs generally develop during childhood and are largely shaped by parents or guardians and the experiences and individual has during the early years of their lives.
|For as long as I can remember, I have loved attempting to dissect the meaning of the words that people speak. It is partly why I chose a career in a helping profession and became a counsellor; to exercise my ability to try to understand how others feel through their words and use the skills of paraphrasing, summarizing or through the use of metaphors to convey this understanding back to my clients.

|Life is constantly changing, right in front of our eyes. And sometimes we're not quite ready or happy with these changes; other times we might struggle or even refuse to accept these changes. Yet creating healthy changes in our lives can be highly beneficial for increasing our overall well-being, especially if we're feeling motivated to get started.
|It can be super important to let the mother in your life know that you appreciate all of her hard work and dedication in taking care of so many others around her. It can be a tough job to inherent all of the responsibilities and jobs that are often absorbed by a mom, so help her to feel pampered and special every once in awhile ~ especially on Mother's Day, which falls on Sunday, May 13 this year.
