This article will focus primarily on natural products that you can use in your bathroom, since I was fortunate to try a few products from Primal Life Organics, but also be sure to check out previous article which talks about the benefits of using reusable food wraps in the kitchen to see how you can start using natural products in all the rooms in your home!
1 | Eco/Earth-Friendly
One of the main benefits of using natural products is the fact that many ingredients are sourced in sustainable ways, and products are made locally. This takes away from mass-production and is better for the environment since smaller batches cause little to no pollution for our planet. As well, since fewer (or none at all) chemicals are used in the process of making natural products, there is less waste and impact on the environment since there are no harsh chemicals to dispose of in the process or that end up going down the drain as you use the product. If you are wanting to do your part to care for the environment, switching to natural products is the way to go! 2 | Purity Since natural or organic products are generally not made with harsh chemicals, you're using a product that is as close to pure as possible. It's helpful to think of your body as its own ecosystem which helps to keep you healthy when everything is in balance. When impure or harsh ingredients enter into our bodies, it can throw our bodies ecosystem into turmoil or even prevent it from working properly. Natural products help to keep our bodies running smoothly and allows our intricate make-up of hormones and (good) bacteria to do their intended job. Healthy bacteria = a healthy body! 3 | Gentler Natural products can often be gentler on the skin and therefore not cause irritation or redness like other products that contain lab-created chemicals. When redness does occur, its generally due to a detoxifying process that is lifting impurities from the body, rather than a reaction to the ingredients. "Natural sources of Vitamin A from vegetables such as carrots, or in seed oils such as rosehip contained within the whole plant have a much more balanced range of action." ~ Primal Organics 4 | Calming Effect Many natural products are used with natural ingredients like essential oils or herbs which makes it smell incredible. Like the White Lavender Natural Deodorant Stick that I was able to try out. It literally smells like you're walking through a field of fresh lavender. Such an incredible aroma! Aromatherapy can having a calming effect on your nerves and so using natural products that include beautiful scents can help you to feel relaxed throughout the day. If you're sensitive to scents, you can always go the completely natural route without the added scent - most companies make this option available.

5 | Skip The Side Effects
You may have heard some warnings about an ingredient found in many beauty and skincare products known as 'parabens'. These synthetic additives are used in conventionally produced health and beauty products as a preservative to extend the shelf life of products and and mimic your body’s natural hormones, but can cause some serious and negatives side effects. By contrast, natural products use - you guessed it - natural preservatives, such as grapefruit seed extract to help extend the shelf life of these products (although it's best to check the best-used-by date since natural products can have a shorter shelf life). Without these added synthetic products, there's less of a chance of nasty side effects, although as with any product you're trying out, it's good to test it out to make sure you don't have any reactions.

6 | Less Product Needed
Since products used with chemicals often work by masking the problem rather than fixing the underlying issues (or even mess with our bodies natural hormones), you can sometimes need to reapply the product often just to make it work. With natural products, I find I use less product and less often. 7 | Value For Money Using less product means you're also saving money, and even though natural or local products can seem pricier than store-bought or mass produced products, they can last longer because you're not having to use as much. Saving the planet, helping your bodies ecosystem, and getting value for your money.. that's a lot of wins! 8 | Peace of Mind One of the biggest benefits that I have found by switching to more natural products has been the overall sense of peace of mind that even though I am only one person on this planet of over 7 billion people, I am making small changes and doing my part to help out our planet by using more natural and sustainable products.
9 | Instant Results
Whether it's clear skin, reduced odour, or a sense of calm, natural products can produce instant results the moment you start adding these products to your daily regime. It can be tough to switch from a brand that you have been using for years, or possibly your entire life, but taking small steps to add new products that are better for you and the environment can be really easy to do. Many companies even provide smaller sizes or samples for you to try out first, if you're feeling hesitant about purchasing for the first time. I have also found that it can help to ask others about their preference when it comes to natural products so you can have a conversation and hear their unique feedback about a particular product. Take that leap and try something new! 10 | Long-Term Benefits Our bodies can take some harsh treatment over time from sun damage, poor diet, chemicals, and so much more. Using natural products that contain antioxidants can have long-term and lasting healing effect on skin and within our bodies. This is super informative! I've been thinking about a natural deodorant, especially on the days when I shave because I feel like my skin is so much more susceptible to the harsh chemicals when it's tender!
