Essential Oils for Self-Care

Essential oils can be used aromatically, topically, and internally. Not all essential oils can be used in all three ways so it's advisable to read the label or research about the specific oil you are intended to use prior to it's application.

The following essential oils are three fantastic options to incorporate into your self-care routine and will include one essential oil for each application.

Aromatic

Serenity - A blend of Lavender Flower, Cedarwood, Ho Wood Leaf, Ylang Ylang Flower, Marjoram Leaf, Roman Chamomile Flower, Vetiver Root, Vanilla Bean Absolute, Hawaiian Sandalwood Wood
How to use Serenity EO for self-care:
  • Add a few drops to a diffuser
  • Apply to bottoms of feet at bedtime
  • Inhale directly from hands 
  • Add 2–3 drops into a warm bath
Scent description:
  • Warm, floral, herbal

Topical

Wild Orange - An energizing aroma, Wild Orange possesses stimulating and purifying qualities, making it ideal to support healthy immune system function when seasonal threats are high. Wild Orange enhances any essential oil blend with a fresh, sweet, refreshing aroma.
How to use Wild Orange EO for self-care:​
  • For an energizing boost, dispense one to two drops in the palm of your hand along with equal parts Peppermint and Frankincense. Rub palms together and inhale deeply from palms, then rub on the back of neck.
Scent description:
  • Sweet, fresh, citrus

Internal

Oregano - One of the most potent and powerful essential oils and has been used for centuries in traditional health practices for its cleansing and immune-boosting properties. One drop taken daily can help maintain healthy immune function.
How to use Oregano EO for self-care:
  • Take one drop with liquid daily
  • Add one to two drops to a capsule
  • Put one drop in place of dried oregano

  • ​Herbaceous, sharp, green, camphoraceous
These three are great examples of essential oils that you can easily incorporate into your every day self-care routine. ​My go-to essential oil for self-care? Lavender! I love diffusing it, using it as a massage with coconut oil, put a few drops in my  bath, and have even considered making a lavender lemonade one day.

The app is great! It helps you to learn slowly because there are so many things to do with essential oils, it can feel a bit overwhelming (and exciting) at times. I hope you find it helpful! :)

I love my dT oils, too. :) I'm not sure what I would do without Serenity... We certainly wouldn't be having a very happy day over here without it! ;)~

Can I ask what platform you use for your webinars? I'm working on getting my first one together, and I'm trying to get some perspective on the best platforms to use. Thank you!

Hi Laura! So glad to hear you're enjoying doTERRA, as well. :) And that's a good question about the best platform to use for a webinar. I actually have not hosted my own webinar so far. My mentor uses Zoom but I know there are a lot more out there. I think it might depend on how interactive you would like it (chat box or actually seeing other participants on video). Let me know what you decide to try out!

I love doterra easential oils. I use easy air, onguard and oregano in the cold months and they work a treat. Plus i use them on my kids too.

Second post I read on your blog. I really enjoy it so far! (I haven't try yet to make my own lavender soap but I want to!!!) This post is interesting. I didn't know "wild orange" as essential oil before; and I am using a lot of oils already. Unfortunately, I know only their name in France except for Tea Tree ;) If I could try one now it would be the Serenity one. I don't think I've seen it in France..

Hey Heather! My favorite essential oils are: rosemary, lavender, vanilla and peppermint. I'm actually making growth oil that includes lavender, rosemary and peppermint....all have wonderful scalp benefits that help to encourage healthy hair growth.

Omg. I was reading, and then I came across the oregano essential oil, and I was like... no way! It is one of my favourite condiments, mostly because of the smell, and it brings me so many memories from where I come from...
I am an addict when it comes to using essential oils to perfumate the house. I try to use them in my natural-friendly detergents. Thank you so much for sharing this post. I am saving it as I find it extremely helpful!!

This is a great article. It is a great reminder of how we need to get back to making time to pamper ourselves. I love taking a peppermint oil mixture and massaging my scalp with it before I shampoo.
