|Homemade spa days are one of my favourite self-care practices. Relaxing in a lavender scented bath is a one of the one only places that my smartphone is not welcome and that I can close my eyes and forget all of the tasks I need to complete or cleaning that needs to be done.

I have been having a lot of fun creating my own natural products and it's incredible that I have only just tried making my own bath bombs.. and with great success, I might add!

Fizzing bath bombs are simple to make and pack a serious aroma thanks to the essential oils inside. The fizzing is just like store bought bath bombs; it's fun to watch them disappear into the water while releasing a soothing aroma.

These all natural fizzing bath bombs are great to stock up for your own spa days or give as gifts. You will put a smile on a friends face when you share your handcrafted bath bombs with them.

All Natural Fizzing Bath Bombs

Here are all of the ingredients you will need for this DIY recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup citric acid
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • handful of lavender buds
  • ½ cup Fractionated Coconut Oil
  • 8–10 drops Lavender Essential Oil
  • Stainless steel round molds, 3 sizes
Recommended products to make this recipe:

Instructions

  1. In bowl, place citric acid, baking soda, cornstarch, and oil.
  2. Add eight to 10 drops of the essential oil or blend of choice.
  3. Mix well with spoon until soft dough is formed. It should have the consistency of damp sand. If you are leaving out the oil, use a spray bottle with water and spritz until soft dough forms. Be careful not to add too much water at once as it can activate the citric acid (the ingredient that causes the fizz).
Note: If the mixture is too wet, try adding a little more baking soda and cornstarch until consistency is correct.
  4. At this point, you may add food coloring, dried herbs, or flower petals to mixture.
  5. Place mixture in silicone molds. Let sit 24 hours before removing from mold.
  6. To use, drop in tub or shower and allow to dissolve.

Note: If you don't have a bathtub, these bath bombs can still be effective in a shower. The water will help dissolve the bath bomb and release the aroma of the essential oils into the steam.

I used Lavender Essential Oil in this recipe because it is one of my favourite essential oils. Lavender EO has a soothing scent that is perfect for a spa day at home using these homemade fizzing bath bombs.

There are so many other essential oils you could use in bath bombs depending on your scent preference. For example, citrus scents like Orange and Grapefruit or earthy tones like Cedarwood and Juniper Berry would be great combinations to try out.

Great idea! Have you ever tried adding gelatin to your bath water? It feels so nice and leaves your skin feeling like silk!

I love Bath Bombs and the DIY ones are (usually) so much healthier than the store bought ones with all of the chemicals. Thanks for the recipes.

For sure! You can use all different kinds of molds to make fun shapes and then just put the pucks at the bottom of your shower. It will smell amazing!
