|Gratitude can be a powerful tool to use as we live in a world full of unknowns. On any given day, we can't be 100% sure what will happen and if there will be more ups than downs, but one thing is for certain - there's always something to be grateful for! Learning to be more grateful can lead to a many new discoveries, new adventures, new friends, and new possibilities. Consider the last time you truly opened yourself up to allowing good things into your life, and how this may have changed your life in a positive, maybe even profound way. One particular example from my own experience when I felt a lot of gratitude in my life was choosing to go on the adventure of living overseas for a period of a few years. At first I felt uncertain about my choice, and once I made the decision and took that flight halfway around the world, I was constantly wondering if I had made the right decision. This led me to consider all the things in my life that I was truly grateful for including feeling grateful to have a family that was supportive and understanding of my decision to move far away, realizing that I had the health and ability to make the trip and thrive in a new place, and opening myself up to new experiences while meeting a ton of new people along the way. Cultivating this gratitude helped me in times when things weren't going so well, or in times of doubt or uncertainty. Feeling grateful served a very important purpose during this time of living overseas. In the present time, as I continue to remind myself of all the things in life I am grateful for, I'm able to celebrate the highs and push through the lows. “Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson As you can see, I am a huge fan of introducing more gratitude into my life, and I'm so excited to share a wonderful resource that can help you to learn more about how you can cultivate your own gratitude to have a better life, in just 7 days! *The links on this page may be embedded with affiliate links. Okay, let's jump into my own comments about the guide! First Thoughts One of the first things I noticed about the guide were the colours. I immediately felt light and positive looking at the beautiful yellow and orange glow of the text on the cover page, and with a quick scroll, noticed that this theme continued throughout the guide which ties it all together nicely. I also really liked the table of contents on the following page, as this clearly shows an overview of what's included in the guide and what to expect in terms of themes to expect as I work my way through the guide. Working My Way Through As I worked my way through the introduction, I found it helpful to have a reminder about what it actually means to experience gratitude, and also how it can help. Also, I am an advocate of mindset work, and so I was excited to learn that we would be working on shifting mindsets and negative thinking patterns. This is all music to a therapists ears, really! I also appreciated that the author took the time to normalize the fact that mindset work can be tough and it can take a different amount of time for each person. This helped me to feel at ease as I started with the first day! Exercises & Insights As I worked through each day of the guide, I found myself being able to apply each theme to my own life and experience. Like, for example, it was useful to consider the criticism I can make about myself or others.. even without being aware of it! Having these insights and being able to critically think of ways of changing this mindset into a more positive frame of reference to allow gratitude into my life seemed so useful not only as I worked through the exercises, but also being able to apply this in my daily life moving forward. I also really liked the challenges that were shared throughout the workbook. I feel most at home in my comfort zone, yet feel the most growth when I take those steps outside that zone and push myself to try something new. So having these challenges along the way helped me to feel like I was growing each day of the workbook. Final Thoughts I absolutely enjoyed working through the guide and felt it gave a great overview of how helpful gratitude can be to include in our everyday lives with just the right amount of insights, encouragements, exercises and challenges along the way that helped to solidify the concepts throughout. I highly recommend checking it out and grabbing a copy for yourself! Great review - definitely going to look into this guide. I do believe that we so often forget how important gratitude is and what a difference it can make to our outlook. I hope you don't mind , but I have shared this on my regular PainPalsBlog feature "Monday Magic - Inspiring Blogs for You!", Claire x
